Dear Friends,
It’s time to look forward to the
Yale Club of Houston 2011 – 2012 season.
If you’re a newcomer to Houston, we're excited to welcome you to the Space
City. If you’re a longtime Yale Club
member, we can’t wait to reconnect and hear your summer stories.
To kick off our new year,
we’ll enjoy a wine tasting the evening
of September 17th at the home of Daphne and Eric Bernicker, supporting
the American economy by featuring wines from the Pacific Northwest.
Upcoming fall events offer
something for everyone, from a Li’l Elis
tour of the METRO Rail Operations Center to an evening with the Houston Grand Opera. Be sure to check out the programs calendar on
the next page for our current schedule.
If you’d like to get more
involved with the club, we’d love to have you on board. Key activities include:
·
Programming
for Young Alumni, Li’l Elis (children and families), and the broader club. We welcome your attendance, event
ideas, and organizational talent!
·
The Yale Day of Service, which last year
enabled nearly 100 Yale alumni, friends, and community members to work together
to build a community garden and restore coastal wetlands. Get involved as
a site coordinator or volunteer!
·
The Alumni Schools Committee supports and
interviews over 375 Yale College applicants from the Houston area every
year. Would you represent Yale at a
college night or serve as an alumni interviewer?
·
Now in its fifth
year, the Bulldogs by the Bayou summer
internship program for Yale undergraduates introduces Yale students to Houston
and connects area employers to Yale talent.
Students from each of the first years of the program have returned to
Houston for full-time work after graduation.
Alumni are needed as mentors, event planners, and employers (or employer
recruiters).

look forward to another successful year.
I hope to see you on September 17th and throughout our 2011 –
2012 season!
