Juneteenth Declarations of Freedom (JDoF) is an interdisciplinary project exploring the meanings and enactments of freedom in the 21st century through new music, storytelling and exposition, community conversations, and multimedia art. Centered on key cities historically prominent in the nation’s articulations of freedom—Galveston, TX, New Haven, CT, and Philadelphia, PA—JDoF invites communities to engage in redefining freedom and documenting their everyday enactments of freedom through reflection and collaborative song-writing.

About Divine Grace. Divine Grace remixes traditional hymns and contemporary gospel songs alike with jazz, classical, traditional African, and world music infusions to offer a bold declaration of faith, a call to community, a voice of comfort, and a resounding shout of victory, while its original music offers a faith-centered message of diversity, tolerance, inclusion, and love. Divine Grace was founded on the campus of Yale University in Fall 1998. The group’s four years on campus constituted an undeclared ministry of sisterhood, cross-culture collaboration (hello child of Nigeria, Jamaica, and Texas!), artistry, and faith. Today, the physician (Dr. Camille P. Green), business school professor (Dr. Eliada Wosu Griffin-EL), and education entrepreneur (Dr. Kenyatha V. Loftis) integrate their professional expertise into presentations, making the concert stage a space for healing, learning, and social exchange.
