What is the energy price outlook?  Can we count on our electric grid?  What new technologies are coming? What's next for both offshore and onshore drilling?
 
The Yale Club of Houston and Yale Club past President and Yale Alumni in Energy founder Ed Hirs '79 bring you a thought-provoking two-day conference addressing these questions and more.
 
 
 
Friday, July 10, 6 pm 
 
Oil and Gas Market Outlook 
George Littell '67 of Groppe, Long, & Littell will share his assessment of world oil and gas markets over dinner. 

Saturday July 11, 8 am to 1 pm
  
Four fascinating sessions will address a range of energy topics, with breakfast and lunch included. 
 
Electric Grid Reliability
  • Barbara Tyran '79 MPPM of the Electric Power Research Institute will give a macro view of the US grid.  
  • Warren Lasher '87, Director of System Planning for ERCOT (Electricity Reliability Council of Texas) will discuss the Texas grid

New Energy Technologies
  • Joe Munisteri '52, CEO MBJ Water Corporation.  Joe has invented and patented a new technology for reusing fracwater and improving the performance of oil and gas wells. Mr. Munisteri a former EVP at Brown & Root where he built power plants around the world.
  • Mothusi Pahl ‘07 MBA.  Mothusi’s company, Alphabet Energy, has developed a technology utilizing semiconductors that generate electricity when exposed to heat flows. This technology is applicable to all exhaust or waste heat point sources.
  • Walter Schindler '73, '76 MA, '77 PhD of SAIL Capital in California will discuss BioLargo, Inc. and the company's water purification applications in energy.
  • Kate McMillan '16 is the Project Manager for the Yale Solar Decathlon Project.  She will present the plan and talk about the fundraising she and her fellow Yale students are doing to compete in this year's competition.
Offshore Drilling
  • Ed Horton '49 will discuss the recent failure of the tension leg platform Big Foot. Ed invented and holds the patents on tension leg platforms and deep water spar drilling rigs.   
  
Onshore Drilling
  • Brad Simmons '79 will talk about how to do low cost, low risk onshore oil and gas development. Brad is the Executive Director and CEO of Titan Energy (ASX:TTE), which has projects in both the Texas Gulf Coast as well as Australia. Earlier, he was the Executive Director at Maverick Drilling and Exploration.   
 
The event will be held at the Rockwell Pavilion on the 2nd floor of the M.D. Anderson Library, University of Houston.
