Welcome to the Yale Club of Houston - Houston Grand Opera presents The Barber of Seville

Houston Grand Opera presents The Barber of Seville

In Collaboration with the Princeton Club of Houston
Pre-Show Reception and Post-Performance Backstage Tour
In Italian with English Surtitles

Opera’s famous barber is back in this new production of Rossini’s madcap comedy!  A lecherous old man is no match for young love and sheer audacity, especially when Figaro is involved. Dr. Bartolo is love with Rosina, his young and beautiful charge. But when she falls in love with a “poor student,” (a count in disguise) the stage is set for laugh-out-loud comedy.  Rossini’s score is punctuated with brilliant ensembles and some of opera’s most familiar arias, including Figaro’s ode to his own fame.  But don't take our word for it ....

  • The dazzler is the Rosina of Ana María Martínez  - The Dallas Morning News
  • [Gunn’s] comic timing had the audience in stitches. - The New York Times
  • [Brownlee’s] flawless delivery of Almaviva’s concluding aria caused the audience to erupt into one of the lengthiest outbursts of enthusiastic applause I can remember. - The Washington Times

Yale School of Music grad Patrick Carfizzi lends a special touch as Dr. Bartolo.  Join fellow Yale and Princeton grads for a delightful evening!
