Welcome to the Yale Club of Houston - Yale Club of Houston Annual Dinner 2010

Yale Club of Houston Annual Dinner 2010
With Lloyd Irland, Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies

Forests, Carbon, Energy and America's Future: What Path Forward?

Lloyd Irland, Yale PhD and member of the faculty of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, joins the Yale Club of Houston to offer a unique perspective on natural resource management.

Dr. Irland has been actively engaged with major land use and allocation issues in “the Northern Forest” of northern New York and northern New England.  He is a self-proclaimed "timber beast” who has a special interest achieving higher levels of environmental performance on managed timberlands, and who is a vocal advocate for the creation of additional reserves and wilderness areas.

Prior to returning to Yale in 2003, Dr. Irland served as a research economist with the US Forest Service.  He also worked for the State of Maine as the Director, Bureau of Public Lands and subsequently as State Economist.  Dr. Irland regularly consults for industry, governments, and trade groups in the US and Canada on issues of environmental certification, global trends in lumber and paper industries, land use management, carbon storage in forests, and markets for carbon credits.

We'll meet at the Briar Club on May 27th, with cocktails at 6:30 pm followed by a Yale Club update and presentation from Dr. Irland over dinner.

As carbon management takes center stage in Washington DC and across the globe, join us for a fascinating discussion with one of Yale's finest.
